【環境システム評価研究】
納富研究室は、「環境システム評価研究」という研究指導名で活動を営んでいます。環境やエネルギーに対する様々な課題や問題を解決し、より望ましい社会を作り上げてゆくためには、いろいろなアプローチがあります。政策的アプローチ、技術的アプローチ、経済的アプローチ、民間主導活動的アプローチなど。それら多様なアプローチの実施に当たって、果たして環境面はもとより、社会面、経済面、そして地球システムにとって意味のあるアプローチであるのかどうかを、できる限り客観的に見定める必要があります。そのような”評価”を基本として、様々なアプローチの是非を吟味する、それが「環境システム評価」です。
研究室で取り組んでいる研究テーマは、専門分野で言うと「機械工学・熱工学」を基礎とした考えに基づいています。少し堅苦しい印象を受けるかもしれませんが、それが基盤ですのでご容赦ください（笑）。
しかし、環境やエネルギーに関係する課題（研究対象）の多くは、多岐にわたる分野が横断的・複合的に関連する”複雑系（分野融合型）”の研究領域として対応する必要があると言われているので、ある一つの分野の知識や経験だけでは、それが持つ関係性や複雑性、真の問題の所在を理解したり解き明かすことは困難だと考えます。
故に、納富研究室では、取り組む研究テーマに求められる学問分野・領域も、例えば、社会学、経済学、倫理学、哲学、生態学、農学、林学、その他工学など幅広い知識や経験が必要となります。でも、最初からこれらの学問分野を十分に修めてからでないと研究に取り組めないというわけではありません。一つの分野のみにこだわること無く、様々な知識や経験を駆使しながら新しい領域を開拓・創造する気概を持って活動を展開しています。

[Research on "Environmental System Evaluation"]
What is good or bad, better or worse, best or worst ? It is very difficult to judge something because the basis of value will be influenced by a variety of aspects such as environmental aspect, economical aspect and social aspect.
We in our laboratory, focus on development of the evaluation methodology which takes into account not only environmental aspects but also economical and social aspects. And final target of our research works is to advance the comprehensive evaluation methods applicable to the energy and environmental, biological and social system.
The researches conducted in our laboratory are based on mechanical engineering and thermal engineering, but environmental researches need to make use of knowledges and experiences of sociology, economics, ethics, philosophy, ecology, agronomy, forestry and other disciplines. We expand and develop our research to new academic fields.

・Non-food biomass utilization for energy and materials(mainly evaluation of LULUCF)
・Quantitative assessment of forests' and agricultural multifunctional role

・Research on regional revitalization and development of educational activities by utilizing regional (environmental) resources
・Improving community attachment and the education system required for it
